FAQ

What are FiddleStyx?

FiddleStyx are pocket-sized fidget and skill toys designed for smooth, spinning, rolling and hand manipulation. They sits somewhere between a fidget toy, dexterity toy, festival toy and miniature flow prop: simple to pick up, but with plenty of room to learn new tricks.

How do I assemble/disassemble my FiddleStyx?

Individual units will be shipped disassembled wherever possible to ensure lower shipping costs. To assemble, carefully place the tip of the core into the opening and wiggle it back and forth (do not twist). Once at least 5mm inserted, repeat with other end. Once both are partially inserted, push firmly on both ends until the black portions of the core are fully covered.

How do I use them?

There is no "wrong" way to play with a stick. You can roll, spin, flip, transfer and swish them between your fingers and hands freestyle, or learn established tricks and combinations. Many moves can also be adapted from pen spinning, begleri, poi, contact staff and dragon staff.

Check out our Learn FiddleStyx page for more information.

Are FiddleStyx suitable for beginners?

Yes. You can start by simply fidgeting with them and exploring basic movements, then build into more deliberate tricks as your control improves. You do not need a circus or flow-arts background to begin. I often tell beginners to not think about it too hard. Just play with them absent-mindedly whenever you have a spare hand and you'll be shocked to discover just how much you can accomplish subconsciously. Don't think about it. Don't even look at it if you can help it. After a week or two you can check in and see how far your subconscious has gotten.

Where can I learn tricks?

We share tutorials, demonstrations and community videos through FlowStyx social channels and frequently repost content from our growing team of affiliates. You can also experiment with tricks borrowed from pen spinning, begleri, poi, contact staff and dragon staff.

What is FiddleStyx made from?

Standard FiddleStyx use a carbon-fibre, silicone, flexible plastic ends and stainless-steel. The finished toy is approximately 26 cm long and weighs around 50g.

What does UV-reactive mean?

The fluorescent colours glow beautifully under ultraviolet or blacklight illumination. They still appear coloured in normal daylight, but UV lighting creates the high-contrast glowing effect seen in many of our photos.

Are FiddleStyx durable?

FiddleStyx are designed for regular handling and aggressive daily practice. The construction is intentionally simple and robust, and key parts are replaceable if something is lost or worn. If you treat them right, they'll last you a lifetime.

Can I replace lost or worn parts?

Yes. Replacement cores and ends are sold separately, so you can repair a FiddleStyx or change its colour combination without replacing the entire toy.

How do I maintain my FiddleStyx?

Wash the silicone grip occasionally with dish soap and warm water to remove oil and dirt that can reduce grip. Dry fully before use.

Can I choose my own colours?

Yes. The Build Your Own FiddleStyx listing lets you mix and match colours from the standard UV-reactive range. Replacement parts can also be used to refresh or change an existing combination.

What age is FiddleStyx suitable for?

Standard FiddleStyx are suitable for ages 3+ and are UKCA and EU CE compliant. They tend to do better with older children, teens, young adults, and adults than with children under the age of 5-6.

Where are FiddleStyx made?

FiddleStyx are handmade in the UK by FlowStyx.
