Learn FiddleStyx

Here's my honest advice to beginners... don't try.

Yeah, you heard me, don't try. In fact, don't even look at it for the first two weeks if you can help it. Just play with it absent-mindedly the way you would fidget with a pen. Check in every few days and witness the raw power of your subconscious mind. Eventually it will feel like a living extension of your body.

"Do, or do not, there is no try" - Yoda

Fidget First. Learn tricks. Find your flow.

You don't need any previous experience to start.

Beginners Guide:

  1. Find your grip. Hold your FiddleStyx loosely and explore how the weight and balance shift as you spin and roll the stick in different ways.
  2. Slow your roll. guide it, don't use too much force. The goal isn't speed it's a smooth rolling pathway you can repeat. Example: let it slowly roll down your palm and onto your fingers, when it reaches your fingertips, pinch it between your fingertips and your thumb and pull back with your fingers while flipping your hand over so your palm is now facing down and roll the stick from the tip of your thumb back to the crux of your hand using your finger tips to roll it up back up the thumb while your turn your hand back to the start and repeat. Turn this into a smooth continuous motion by linking the entry and the exit.Ā Congratulations, I call that The Hourglass, and it's a great way to learn how how the stick "wants" to roll.
  3. Change the direction. Once one movement feels comfortable, try reversing the roll and/or spin without stopping the roll or spinning momentum entirely or dropping it.
  4. Practice a transfer. Experiment with moving from one hand to the other or between different pinch or contact points on one hand. Work towards making that transitions as smooth as you can.
  5. Connect two movements. Link a roll, reversal or transfer into a little sequence. Repeat it, alter the rhythm, or make up a combination of your own.

From there it's simply

Practice Practice Practice.
